Kamakura Oktoberfest returns in 2016, though it’s going to be slightly difficult to get to as it runs along at the same time as the Yokohama Oktoberfest and the Kumazawa Shuzo / Shonan Beer Oktoberfest. The main difference between these two events is that the Kamakura Oktoberfest is geared towards Japanese craft beer and Japanese food rather than German beers and food.
The event starts on Saturday 1st October at 12:00pm and entrance is free. The Sunday is open from 11:00 until 19:00. Tickets are confusing to say the least. They come in two colours – blue and black, with blue tickets solely being used to buy large glasses of Suntory Beer at ¥450. Black tickets cost ¥350, with one being used to get a small glass of beer from the craft beer breweries, and two black tickets being used to get a large glass. The tickets however, can not be combined on purchases. There is a combination ticket on the day for ¥2,200 that gets you two blue tickets and four black tickets
The main change for the event this year is that all the beers are on until they run out. A couple of years ago, the event was staged to a timetable with only certain beers on at certain times.
