Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber is a 5% amber ale that is brewed using three kinds of malt: pale malt, ale malt, and caramel malt which are imported from the Czech Republic, Germany, and USA respectively with New Zealand yeast thrown in to make it a truly cosmopolitan beer.
Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber Aroma and Taste
Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber had a fairly lively pour to it with a fluffy, off-white head that developed fairly quickly and lingered for just as long. Perhaps some of the gas from the frog / toad on the front had found its way into the beer? I’m a big big fan of amber ales, so to see the bright red copper body was beautiful though it was a tad cloudy. With amber ales, the aromas can vary greatly from potent wafts of caramel to faint roasted tones, and Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber very much lent towards the caramel end of the scale.
With the aromas leaning towards the sweet, caramel side of the amber ale range, Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber possessed a body that did those aromas justice. There was a hoppy aftertaste to the beer that followed a sweet, caramel body with just a hint of wood also thrown in for good measure. I couldn’t identify what kind of wood it was though as I had just consumed it all for dinner.
Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber One Line Review
Osaka Kuni no Cho Kura Amber is a good introduction into the world of amber ales that is on the sweeter end of the scale.
