Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale by Kiuchi Brewery

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale is a ginger ale for adults made by Kiuchi Brewery. If you have read our Kiuchi Brewery tour then you know the label is different due to it being a domestic product for Japan. This is so we can have some cute character to convince kids to buy it. Hitachino Nest Ginger Ale is made with fresh ginger root in each batch, although the precise amount is unknown.

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale Aroma and Taste

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale poured out a deep leather brown colour, one that looks like it has been around the block a few times and has seen too much. There was barely any head to the beer and what there was didn’t last long. Unsurprisingly, Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale reeked of ginger. A good thing if you like ginger but if you don’t, then why did you buy this beer? Don’t let it be said that was the only aroma as there was a hoppy finish to the aroma as well with some malt nose too. I’m just glad I like ginger. A lot.

But nothing can prepare you for the sharp ginger edge to the body of Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale. You would have to eat a whole box of gingerbread to get close to the taste. And then chew on some beni shoga (grated pickled ginger) and then suck on some ginger root before getting to the level of ginger in this beer. Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale’s intense ginger flavour gives way to a citrus end with a little dash of malt to finish. It finishes off with a creamy caramel aftertaste that is not saccharine sweet but noticeable.

Where to Buy Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale is not an easy beer to find. It can be bought online at the Kiuchi Brewery Online store here, else Sakaya Okadaya sometimes has it in stock here.
