Rokko Pilsner by Rokko Craft Brewery

A recent discovery in Kanto for me, I managed to find a bottle of Rokko Pilsner hiding in Tokyu Hands in Yokohama. I last had it in 2013 when I was in Kobe for work and had not been able to find it since. Rokko is a 5% Czech style pilsner that is the brewery’s flagship beer.

A little muddy.

Rokko Pilsner Aroma and Taste

Rokko Pilsner pours well, with a clear foamy head and a very light golden colour. Aroma-wise, it’s subtle. So subtle that whatever aroma there is, it would not be smelt if there was anything else around that was more pungent. Slightly grassy notes but that’s all I could get from it. This is a crisp pilsner and the initial taste was of citrus, leaning towards lemon; there were also notes of malt with a slight bitter hoppy aftertaste. Rokko Pilsner is not going to win any awards for flavour.

Nothing outstanding of note in this beer, I’ll probably have forgotten I drunk this by next week.

Where to Buy Rokko Pilsner

If you are in the Kansai area of Japan, it is quite common in Tokyu Hands and other specialist alcohol stores. However, in Kanto the only place you might find Rokko Pilsner is Tokyu Hands or online.
