Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA by Ise Kadoya

Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA 伊勢角屋オニノスライミーティアーズIPA

Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA is a 6% American IPA from Ise Kadoya, based in Mie, Japan. It’s part of their collaborative range with Oni Densetsu, based in Hokkaido. It was brewed to celebrate Ise Kadoya’s 21st anniversary in 2018, so it’s unknown if Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA is a one-off or will come out again. It’s brewed using two new strains of hops – Loral and Eukanot – though these have been around for a while in the US.

Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA Aroma and Taste

Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA poured out a hazy golden orange colour with a plump white head on top. The aroma was fruity with hints of grapefruit, lemons, peaches, and pineapple coming off it, along with an unusual herbal aroma too. It was tough to pinpoint which herbs though it was more along the lines of something that would go with some roast chicken. There was barely any malt aroma coming off of Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA, even as it warmed up.

The body had the expected initial bitter kick to it, but it wasn’t overpowering nor long-lasting. The hop flavours did seem a tad muted though compared to the nose. Not to say they weren’t there but after a fruity introduction, the body just paled in comparison really. There was some semblance of grapefruit and lemon but alas, it just seemed that Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA was past its best or that it just didn’t hold up to being warm.

Ise Kadoya Oni no Slimy Tears IPA The Bottom Line

After the previous collaborative effort between these two breweries, I expected much more.
