Atsumi Tikitiki : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
It poured out a dull golden honey colour with a thick white head on top which left some streaks down the side of the glass during drinking. The streaks had some legs to them, with them sticking around long after the beer had been finished later on.
Though this beer uses two different hops, it was the Motueka that was the bolder of the two, with it bringing a citrus bouquet to the aroma. That aroma consisted of a clean lemon with some light hints of orange also being present as Atsumi Tikitiki warmed up. There was a touch of what seemed to be some passion fruit / lychee aroma later on, alongside some light malt sweetness.
The body began with a smooth, rounded out bitterness before the citrus notes came through. They didn’t come screaming or shouting through, but more a gentle segue from the bitterness. Alongside them was a light sweetness with a dry body from start to finish. Once again, as the beer warmed up, the beer had a light fruity flavour of some passion fruit that just laid under the surface of drinking.
Atsumi Tikitiki : The Bottom Line
Atsumi Tikitiki is a solid, well made beer though it could do with a bit more oomph to let the hops shine through some more.
