Open Air New Worlds : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Open Air New Worlds poured out a slightly hazy golden straw colour with a plump white head on top that left some thick streaks down the side of the glass.
In terms of aroma, Open Air New Worlds had lashings of it. So much so that I was taken aback – is this really a cold IPA or a hazy IPA that had been cleared up? The nose was full of tropical notes – mango, passion fruit, pineapple – alongside a bouquet of citrus – grapefruit, lemon, and orange. It was a cacophony of aromas going on and my nose really was happy. Every time I took a whiff of the beer, something new came through. As the beer warmed up, a light pilsner sweetness came through, with just enough sweetness to cut through, but not dominate, the hops.
The body was more of the same – and that was meant in a very positive way. While it wasn’t dry, it was light and smooth from the start, with just a lingering bitterness being present through drinking. The hops were bursting at the seems to come out with a similar citrus and tropical flavour being bold, and present. There was so much going on that my taste buds were so happy to be drinking this but before I knew it, the beer had gone.
Open Air New Worlds : The Bottom Line
A fantastically flavourful beer. Worth finding it if you can.
