Hiroshima Neighborly Lemon Session IPA is a 5% session IPA from Hiroshima Neighborly Brewing, based in Hiroshima. I wonder how many more times the city’s name is going to come up? Hiroshima Neighborly Lemon Session IPA is part of their bottled, canned, and draught lineup, and is also available all-year round. This is the first in the Hiroshima Citrus Series and the second original beer in the series. Session IPA made with the juice and zest of high-sugar, pesticide-free lemons from Setoda’s Vertical Farms, produced by Ushitora Brewery and Vertical Farms’ Suga-san. Finally, the beer uses Cascade and Citra hops.

Hiroshima Neighborly Lemon Session IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
The beer poured out a slightly hazy golden straw colour with barely any head on top of it. I managed to catch just the last remants as can be seen in the picture above, though I promise you, there was a little bit.
Unashamedly so, the biggest aroma coming off this beer was lemon – through and through. Yet it wasn’t the pithy lemon that often comes from using the zest of the fruit, but a fresh, vibrant nose, that may in fact be too much for some. Outside of the lemon notes, there was a light supporting aroma of malt pilsner nose though barely anything else was noticeable.
If you like your beers lemony and tangy, then you won’t be surprised when I say that this beer is super lemony and zingy – almost to a fault though. It seems a waste to be using Cascade and Citra hops with a lot of lemons added in really. The body was all lemon with some sweetness present from the malts, but not enough really to save it from being a mid-level beer.
