Streetlight Divine Light : Background
Streetlight Divine Light is a 5% kettle sour from Streetlight Brewing, based in Soen, Sapporo. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though it’s also part of their second anniversary lineup, so it may be sold out at the time publication. This beer was designed by Yamatani-san, who is one of the supporting brewers at Streetlight Brewing, and uses Alora hops alongside Philly Sour yeast. The label design is an image that combines the Latin word Alora, which means “Divine Light,” with the cross-section of a citrus fruit.

Streetlight Divine Light : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Streetlight Divine Light poured out a slight hazy faint golden yellow colour with a meagre amount of bubbles on top that left very quickly. There was a touch of haze to the beer as well, though not enough to really call this a hazy beer.
The aroma was dual facetted – of course a sour funk was evident from the get-go; however, alongside this was a light citrus, yuzu aroma present from the hops, as no yuzu had been used in the making of Streetlight Divine Light. It was rather simple really with barely any malt sweetness present or noted during drinking.
As in the aroma, the body had two main flavours to it – the sour twang that was sharp and swift, but also fleeting, alongside the same zingy citrus yuzu quality to the beer. I would have liked a touch of sweetness in the beer, just to give it some change of pace, but that’s a minor quibble.
Streetlight Divine Light : The Bottom Line
A decent sour beer with some interesting flavours. Great for a summer’s day but not in the middle of winter.
