Background
Taros Brewing is a brewery located in Hiroshima, in Japan. The brewpub opened in February 2023 in the centre of the city and also operates the taproom next door, known as Hangout, which moved in September 2022 when the brewery plans came to fruition. However, Hangout has been around for much longer, having been open since August 2014, when the owner wanted to improve the availability of craft beer in Hiroshima.
Furthering this, the owner began to dream about owning his own brewery, and making beers that everyone can enjoy, as well as himself. The name of the brewery comes from the name of the company president, Kentaro Miwa, his own name Kentaro, his grandfather Kintaro, and his son Taro, so three “Taro” makes the plural “Taros”.
Beer Reviews
The following are some of the beers we’ve had:
- Taros Awakening #2 – A 6% Hazy IPA brewed using Cryo Centennial, Cryo Simcoe, and El Dorado hops though the recipe can change around.
- Taros Morning Delight – A 5% white stout infused with coffee from Bunga CWS and uses Citra and Cryo Citra hops.
- Taros Sucker Punch – A 5% fruited sour ale that uses apple juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and lactose, alongside Mosaic and Sabro hops.
- Taros Topology #6 – A 7% hazy IPA brewed using Cryo Citra, Galaxy, and Cryo Mosaic hops though the recipe can change around.
