Streetlight Petit Julien : Background
Streetlight Petit Julien is a 5% Belgian pale ale from Streetlight Brewing, based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though it is a limited availability beer – so it might not be on sale at the time of writing. The beer takes its name from the statue found Brussels, aka the peeing boy, or officially called Manneken Pils.

Dark amber orange colour with a thin white head that faded to a few bubbles down the side of the glass.

Musty aroma – slight oxidation to the beer. Light phenols present during drinking though not overpowering or unpleasant compared to the oxidation.

Smooth bitterness from start to finish with an underlying phenol flavour – light fruitiness – going on alongside the touch of sweetness from the malts. Oxidation is present in the body, with a subtle wet cardboard quality to it.

Definitely tastes like someone has pissed into a can and tried to sell it as a beer. Give this a miss.
