Ale Dang : The Bottom Line

I swear that between Craft Roo and Ale Dang, I’d be happy relaxing at these two places. The insides of both are super relaxing and atmospheric. Even when it started to rain when I was in Aledang, I was so relaxed that I didn’t want to go anywhere else for drinks – but I did for you loving Patreons. I’d happily recommend Ale Dang as a place to visit for anyone in the area.

Aledang Inside

Ale Dang : Background

Ale Dang, like Craft Roo, sits inside one of the most beautiful settings for a craft beer bar. It’s name comes from the idea of being a house of ales, but when the Chinese characters are used for its name, Ale Dang (愛日堂), though, it gets a much kinder translation of a house where love is shared every day. Ale Dong opened in December of 2016 in one of the many alleyways of Ikseon-dong, Ale Dang has kept most of the original architecture to the building, but also included some modern designs of tables and chairs. However, it’s the greenery inside that is the most resplendent of the place and whisks you away to the countryside of South Korea.

The central part of the bar is covered but during the spring and summer months, they do open it all up to the elements – as I found out on my time there. I loved sitting amongst the foliage, sipping away at a beer. It made a terrace outdoor seating arrangement rather boring in comparison.

Ale Dang : Beer & Food Information

In terms of the beer line-up, Ale Dang is specialized English-style craft beer produced by the local Goodman Brewery. There were eight taps on when I went to Ale Dang, with a good selection across the board in terms of variety and strengths. Again, like most other places in Seoul, beers came in one size of around 400 ml from ₩7,500 and were generally well made for the style. I didn’t notice any beers to takeaway, but I ended up having a few beers here – I just forgot to take pictures as I was so relaxed and enjoying my time.

In terms of food, the lineup is rather Western with pizzas and sausages on the menu, alongside a few more traditional Korean dishes.
