Rather than writing up individual reviews for these beers, we’ve come up with a page of beers for our recent trip to Free Spirits Brewing – which is a brewpub just outside of Sanyo Himeji station. As these are draught beers, there is no guarantee that they will be on tap if and when you go there.

Free Spirits Huntington IPA

Free Spirits Brewing Beer 2

Free Spirits Huntington IPA : Details

  • Alcohol : 6.5%
  • Style : American IPA
  • IBU : 37

Free Spirits Huntington IPA : Mini Review

Appearance : Golden straw colour with a slight chill haze to the beer. Plump white head that faded fast to leave a thin layer of bubbles and some lacing.

Aroma : Light citrus aroma of grapefruit and lemon with a touch of pale ale sweetness. Low level resinous notes when warm with no off-flavours.

Body : Starts off bitter though mellows over time. Prominent flavour of citrus notes that are followed up but a light sweetness in the body. Subtle resinous taste when warm.

Free Spirits Fruity IPA

Free Spirits Brewing Beer 3

Free Spirits Fruity IPA : Details

  • Alcohol : 6%
  • Style : Hazy IPA
  • IBU : 21

Free Spirits Fruity IPA : Mini Review

Appearance : Hazy light honey colour with a thick bubbly head that lingers, leaving streaks down the side of the glass.

Aroma : Mix of citrus and tropical fruits. Light grapefruit and lemon, mixed with coconut and mangosteen. Light malt sweetness mixed with touch of alcohol.

Body : Complex flavours as in the nose, but light in terms of body and very drinkable. Low alcohol heat but more fruity than anything else. Lingering fruits into the aftertaste.

Free Spirits American IPA

Free Spirits Brewing Beer 4

Free Spirits American IPA : Details

  • Alcohol : 6%
  • Style : American IPA
  • IBU : 43

Free Spirits American IPA : Mini Review

Appearance : Hazy orange colour with some light bubbles in the head. Head lingers leaving streaks down the side of the glass.

Aroma : Classic American IPA with lots of citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon, and lime. Straightforward throughout drinking with a touch of light malt sweetness.

Body : Light bodied for an American IPA though hops are at the forefront. Citrus flavour alongside some medium bitterness that fades to a slight sweetness. Well balanced but lacks depth.
