Y Market Age of Discovery is a 7% NE-IPA from Y Market Brewing, based in Nagoya, in Aichi, Japan. It’s part of their (semi)-regular lineup and can be found in both cans and on tap at various places across Japan. Y Market Age of Discovery is brewed using imported Citra, Horizon, El Dorado, and Loral hops from the USA.
Y Market Age of Discovery Aroma and Taste
Y Market Age of Discovery poured out a light hazy golden colour with a plump white head on top that collapsed on in itself quite quickly. I suggest letting Y Market Age of Discovery warm up somewhat if you want some aroma, and it’s worth doing. The light pear and cherry aroma, combined with a classic citrus lemony one, blended nicely with one another, before letting a subtle malt sweetness come from.
In spite of having a large hop bill, Y Market Age of Discovery was lacking in a hoppy punch. This was instead a ripe fruity one with the pear and cherry flavours coming through alongside a slight bitter lemon citrus flavour. The body had a medium thick mouthfeel to it, though it wasn’t cloying nor heavy on the palate. Y Market Age of Discovery had a lingering fruitiness, though the citrus flavour was more pronounced.
Y Market Age of Discovery The Bottom Line
When fresh, Y Market Age of Discovery is a decent, well-made NE-IPA.
