Kyoto Brewing Minori is a 6.5% American IPA from Kyoto Brewing Company, based in Kyoto, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition series and can be found on tap only. For bittering, it uses Merkur hops, while for flavour and aroma, Kyoto Brewing Company used Citra and Mosaic. From Kyoto Brewing Company “Minori as an idea was born on our travels to Portland and we felt; therefore, that this was a name well suited to this beer, the culmination of our research, who we now look forward to introducing to the world.”
Kyoto Brewing Minori Aroma and Taste
Kyoto Brewing Minori poured out a light straw colour with a plump white head on tap, that thankfully was topped up. Kyoto Brewing Minori had a distinct tropical aroma of pineapples and grapefruits with no distinct malt aroma coming through. Some citrus came through too once it had warmed up but the aromas were well-balanced.
The body to Kyoto Brewing Minori was more of the same – which is not a bad thing. Once the initial bitterness had subsides, Kyoto Brewing Minori left pineapple and grapefruit flavours, with a fleeting tartness to it that faded to a light sweetness. It finished off with a smooth fruity finish that left me wanting more.
Kyoto Brewing Minori The Bottom Line
Kyoto Brewing Minori goes to show that the KBC can make more than just Belgian style beers. Try it before it goes.
