Kamikatz Porter Stout is a 6% porter (despite the name!) from Rise & Win Brewing Company, based in Tokushima, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in bottles and on tap. Kamikatz Porter Stout is brewed using locally roasted Naruto kintoki sweet potatoes, along with the addition of roasted coffee and spices too in the fermentation stages.
Kamikatz Porter Stout Aroma and Taste
Kamikatz Porter Stout poured out a deep brownish black colour with a plump fluffy white head on top of a slight tan coloured film, which collapsed to a small layer of bubbles. The coffee aromas were evident from the start – they did add coffee to the beer – along with some roasted black malt acridity coming through too. It had a meagre amount of chocolate aroma that got stronger as the beer warmed up.
Kamikatz Porter Stout – seriously they should have just called this Kamikatz Porter – had a thin body of chocolate, coffee, and the acrid black malt flavours. It had a decent amount of carbonation to it that was neither gassy nor flat. The flavours lingered on the tongue for a short while but faded fast, leaving a slight bitter taste on the tongue.
Kamikatz Porter Stout The Bottom Line
Kamikatz Porter Stout is perhaps the best of a mediocre bunch from Rise & Win Brewing Company
