Yorocco Cultivator by Yorocco Beer

Yorocco Cultivator is a 6% Belgian pale ale from Yorocco Beer that was previously only available on draft only but the kind folks, well Kichise-san, kindly put this range in bottles as well. Yorocco Cultivator came about after Kichise-san went over to Canada and tried the Pit Caribou Brett Session IPA and the Four Winds Juxtapose Brett IPA and came back inspired to make a Belgian Pale Ale. It’s brewed with four different citrus hops: Amarillo, Simcoe, Centennial, and also Citra and is brewed with Belgian yeast as well. At the time of writing, it can be found on draft at Beach Muffin and also in bottles as well.

Yorocco Cultivator Aroma and Taste

Yorocco Cultivator poured out a cloudy golden colour with a slight haze to it which settled out after warming up a bit. The head was a thin white frothy layer on top that quickly dissipated away to leave a thin white ring around the outside. The aroma was a funky Belgian yeast fruitiness with plenty of lemon and grapefruit aromas along with a few tropical fruit tones of mangoes and guava. A really complex amount of smells going on with this beer, even more so when it had warmed up.

The body was incredibly dry – something that Yorocco Beer tries to do with the majority of its beers it seems. The Belgian yeast brought some spicy character to the beer, though the malts were also present with a slight sweetness to it. Yorocco Cultivator had plenty of tropical flavours going on as well, with lots of citrus fruits such as lemons, along with oranges too. It finished off slightly bitter kick to it that reminded me of an extra pale ale but the Belgian yeast funk came in just to remind me of its roots.

Yorocco Cultivator One Line Review
