South Horizon Nap on Deck : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
South Horizon Nap on Deck poured out a slight hazy orange honey colour with a thin layer of bubbles on top that left a thin ring of bubbles on top and around the edge of the glass.
The beer began with the unmistakeable aroma of grapefruit, though it was a touch on the pithy side and a little bit chemically, with a touch of washing up liquid soapiness being present. As the beer warmed up, some notes of lemon also came through with some light malt sweetness coming along for the ride. Finally, some tropical notes of mango and pineapple were found towards the end the aroma.
Finally, the body began with a smooth, well-rounded bitterness that lingered throughout drinking, with more of the grapefruit flavour cutting through. The lemon note, alongside some mango and pineapple, brought some complexity to a beer that could have been one-side. However, it was the washing-up liquid notes that pervaded throughout, and left a negative on this beer.

A good effort but it’s that washing-up liquid flavour that left me feeling a bit down with this.
