South Horizon Junos Pandemic : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
South Horizon Junos Pandemic poured out a hazy straw colour with a thin layer of white head on top, that lingered throughout drinking, leaving some thin white streaks down the edge.
In terms of aroma, it was definitely a mix between a pithy yuzu aroma, with a touch of sea water note. The gose profile was present, yet weird. I couldn’t work out which was stronger really – the yuzu or the sea salt? As the beer got warmer, the distinction between the two aromas grew harder as they intermingled.
With a low alcohol, I wasn’t expecting a full bodied beer here, and it wasn’t. Light and thirst quenching, South Horizon Junos Pandemic would have been great on a summer’s day – not in the middle of a Japanese winter. The yuzu was fresh and zingy, with the sea salt bringing a change of pace to the beer. Both flavours lingered on into the aftertaste and before I knew it, the beer was gone.
South Horizon Junos Pandemic : The Bottom Line
A delicious gose, though could do with some more body.
