Farmentry Mutsuki IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

The body had the appearance of a slightly murky colour – it looked markedly different from the tap version I had back in January. A thick white head adorned the beer and left streaks during drinking.

In terms of aroma, it was a mixed bag. There was a lot going on for sure, but all the aromas were muted, which led me to believe that there is still some work to go with the canning. Light citrus notes of lemon, grapefruit, and orange were present, with a touch of mango and pineapple but it all felt, well, lacklustre. There was a touch of malt sweetness in the nose as the beer warmed up.

Finally, it kicked off with a low but sharp bitterness which faded fast. As in the nose, the body felt lacklustre yet flavourful. The body could have done with some more lift in terms of carbonation as it felt more like a draught ale rather than a vibrant carbonated IPA from what I am used to. The hops were more present compared to the aroma, with the citrus and tropical fruits bringing more zhush to the show.

Farmentry Mutsuki IPA : The Bottom Line

I’m in two minds – on tap, great beer. Canned version? I’m blase about it.
