The Booth Gyeonglidan : The Bottom Line
The Booth Gyeonglidan offers up everything we want from a craft beer bar – then some more. Tasty beers on tap at decent prices, delicious pizza with toppings a-plenty, and somewhere comfortable to sit and unwind after a day of walking. Moreover, it’s quirky atmosphere and fun decorations along the walls means there’s always something to look at and spot in The Booth Gyeonglidan while you’re drinking and eating. Definitely a place I’ll return to when I am next in Seoul.
The Booth Gyeonglidan : Background
The Booth Gyeonglidan is a popular part of the local craft beer scene in Seoul and it was actually started out by a its three founders Heeyoon, Sunghoo, and Daniel who were working full time as Korean medical doctor, financial analyst, and Economist correspondent at the time. The bar itself opened in May 2013 and started out selling pizza and some local craft beer, alongside some imports. The Booth Gyeonglidan is part of a chain that I didn’t know existed until I did some more research into this article, and there are also bars in Gangnam, Bangbae of Seoul and Haeundae of Busan.
Morever, since then, The Booth have also opened their own brewing company, called The Booth Brewing Company, and also host one of the largest beer festivals in Asia, to launching the first 100% refrigerated beer distribution system in Korea. Four years since its birth, The Booth extended its operations into the current Eureka facility, which was formerly owned by Lost Coast Brewery, becoming the first Asian craft brewery to brew in the US. Since then, it has been catching the attention of many local and international craft beer lovers.
The Booth Gyeonglidan : Beer & Food Information
On the day I went to The Booth Gyeonglidan, there were six taps of craft beer on, with a mixture of local breweries on tap. The beers came in three sizes: regular (280 ml) from ₩3400 / ¥385 / $2.5, pint (400 ml) from ₩5500 / ¥620 / $4, and then big size (500 ml) from ₩6100 / ¥620 / $4.5 as that size gets you a discount on the bulk purchase. There is also some in-house made pizza with a variety of toppings and sizes. There were also some imported bottles on tap Overall I was happy with the beers and the slice of pizza that I had and will definitely be back for more in the future
