Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo Aroma and Taste
Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo poured out a slightly dark honey colour with a thick white head on top that clung to the side of the glass during drinking. The aroma coming off of Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo was a peculiar one – there was a distinct orange nose with some hints of lemon, but also a light tea-like quality to it – not overpowering or brash but definitely unusually. I couldn’t see anything on the label that had mentioned about tea being an adjunct in the beer, but it was certainly more pronounced as the beer warmed up more and more. There was a faint underlying maltiness to it with it veering towards the a light dusting of pilsner.
The tea made an appearance in the body, with it coming through the initial bitterness of the beer, but it segued into an orange and lemon tartness that was a bit more mouth puckering than the perceived bitterness from the beer. Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo was dry and crisp, and fairly straightforward, if it wasn’t for the tea quality to it.
Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo The Bottom Line
Nomcraft Calypso & Bravo is peculiar – is there, or isn’t there, tea?
