Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA is a 6% American IPA from Ise Kadoya, based in Mie, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition range, and can be found in bottles and on tap. According to Ise Kadoya, it is an improved version of their Ise Kadoya Stay Gold IPA and is brewed with Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Citra, and Mosaic hops. At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether this is a one-off or if we can expect to see a further improved version of it in the future.
Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA Aroma and Taste
Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA poured out a slight hazy golden orange colour with a plump white head on top that faded fast. The aroma was kind of your standard American IPA – grapefruit, citrus lemon, and a little bit of pineapple going on, but nothing really to get excited about. Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA had a slight biscuit nose to it but that was hidden by the hops until the beer had warmed up.
The initial bitterness was potent but faded fast to a citrus profile. Think grapefruit, lemon, and some pineapple and you’d be well on the way to knowing how Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA tastes. Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA isn’t a bad tasting beer but after the recent efforts of Ise Kadoya Pirate King IPA and Ise Kadoya Yuzunoka NEIPA, it was disappointing. The lingering citrus flavours were nice but in the end, Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA just seemed like your regular, run-of-the-mill IPA.
Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA The Bottom Line
Ise Kadoya Supernova IPA is a well made American IPA, but there are much better ones out there.
