Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine is a 10.5% Belgian strong ale from Far Yeast Brewing Company, based in Yamanashi, Japan. Beside officially having the longest beer name in Japan©, Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine is part of their limited edition range and it’s unknown whether it will be seen on sale again. Along with the Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale Red Wine, this beer has been aged in wine casks though it’s unknown of the source of the casks.

Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine Aroma and Taste

Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine poured out a deep orange copper colour with a reasonable amount of frothy white head on top. It had a distinct dry, chardonnay-like quality to it before the malt and alcohol came screaming through. It’s a shame that the white wine quality was lost so quickly – either it hadn’t been aged enough or the white wine casks had been cleaned before hand.

By the time it had warmed up slightly, Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine was all about the rich caramel booziness with no wine quality to it at all. Not even a fruity grape-like taste to it. It was quite dry and did the job of getting me drunk after a long day.

Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine The Bottom Line

Far Yeast Barrel Aged Strong Ale White Wine could have done with being stored in the casks for longer or just not stored at all.
