Japan Brewers Cup 2016

The Japan Brewers Cup Festival is an annual event held at Ōsanbashi pier in Kannai, Yokohama. If that place sounds familiar, yes, Japan Brewer’s Cup Festival  is held at the same place as the BeerFes Yokohama event. It is a three-day event; however, unlike the BeerFes Yokohama event, the Japan Brewers Cup Festival is a pay-as-you-go rather than a tasting session event.

Japan Brewers Cup Festival is organised by Shinya Suzuki, the man behind Bay Brewing Yokohama and is a dual event – an official beer competition in the morning, and then the drinking commences. Anyone can watch the beer judges on the Saturday and Sunday mornings; however, there is no judging on the Friday.

The event is open on Friday 29th January from 5pm to 9pm, Saturday 30th from 1pm to 9pm, and the final day Sunday 31st January from 1pm to 7pm. Entry to Japan Brewers Cup Festival costs ¥500 for the whole event, while beers are dependent on the breweries themselves. At last year’s event, drinks ranged from ¥300 to ¥700.

With over 150 different beers on tap, the confirmed breweries that will be attending (at the time of writing) are:

  • August Beer
  • Outsider Brewing
  • Aqula Beer
  • Evergreen Imports
  • M’s Kitchen
  • Nihonkai Club
  • OH!LA!HO BEER
  • Kure Beer
  • Gotemba Kogen Beer
  • KOBATSU Trading
  • Chateau Kamiya
  • Shonan Beer
  • Swan Lake Beer
  • T.Y HARBOR BREWERY
  • Tochigi Micro Brewery
  • Hakone Beer
  • Brimmer Brewing
  • Helios Craft Beer
  • YO-HO BREWING
  • Yokohama Bay Brewing
  • Yokohama Beer
  • Loco Beer
  • Rokko Beer

There will also be a small selection of food available, with Charcoal Green, Katsuretsuan, and Beer Bar Bouchere providing a selection of meat and snacks.
