The annual Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival is coming up again in May though this year it has been confusingly split into two sessions to accommodate all the extra breweries and expected crowds that will swarm upon the festival. The first session is from May 14th to May 17th, and the second session follows up from May 21st to May 24th. The Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival is held outside, unlike the autumn one that is held inside.

This year, the number of breweries is expected to be over 80 in total, yes 80, with some breweries repeating over the two days. You can expect the majority of the breweries at Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival to be from Japan though some overseas breweries will also be in attendance. Big names include:

  • Coedo (Saitama)
  • Shiga Kogen (Nagano)
  • Minoh Beer (Osaka)
  • Yo-Ho Brewing (Nagano)
  • Baird Beer (Shizuoka)
  • Minamishinshu (Nagano)
  • Sankt Gallen (Kanagawa)
  • Iwate Kura Beer (Iwate)
  • and many more

These larger breweries will be rubbing shoulders with the smaller companies such as:

  • North Island (Hokkaido)
  • Ushitora (Tochigi)
  • Outsider Brewing (Yamanashi)
  • Brimmer Brewing (Kanagawa)
  • Y Market Brewing (Aichi)
  • Preston Ale (Tochigi)
  • Romantic Village (Saitama)
  • Atusgi Beer (Kanagawa)

this really is a true Japanese craft beer festival. There’s bound to be something that you’d like so get along quick.

With beers starting from ¥300 in price for roughly small sizes of about 250ml, and ¥500 the most common starting price for medium-sized classes. There are also craft beer tastings sets as well for customers to try from most of the breweries as well, that start from ¥1000 for 4 different beers. Some of the breweries are also producing some event only beer for the Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival, so get along and try some sampler sets.
