Mahowbrew Three-eyed Raven : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Mahowbrew Three-eyed Raven poured out a pitch black colour with a massive amount of sticky tanned coloured head that left thick streaks down the glass, with an oily slick on top of the beer.
It had a big, bold aroma of coffee and chocolate, with some roasted black malt aroma thrown in for good measure. As the beer warmed up, a note of light caramal / toasted sugar was also present, though the hops were lost on me in the aroma unfortunately. As the beer warmed up and began to reach its peak, a spot of fruitiness was noted with some raisin and plum-like esters popping through the malt aroma.
With it being 8.5%, during drinking there was underlying warmth to the beer, which helped elevate the thickness of the body. Alongside this, the chocolate and coffee flavours permeated through the heat, with some roasted black malt nuttiness also noted during drinking. Once again, as Mahowbrew Three-eyed Raven warmed up, some more of raisin and plum esters popped up, with a touch of toasted sugar present.
Mahowbrew Three-eyed Raven : The Bottom Line
A solid Baltic porter which does exactly what it says on the can.
