Udon Brewing Tsukumi Udon is an 8.5% hazy double IPA under the brand of Udon Brewing that is brewed at Setouchi Beer, in Setouchi, Kagawa. Though the beer is named after food, it does not contain any udon or any parts of what makes a tsukumi, egg yolk, udon bowl. Udon Brewing Tsukimi Udon is brewed with Citra, Galaxy, and Saaz hops and was designed to be the same colour of the tsukimi udon dish.

Udon Brewing Tsukimi Udon : Appearance
Dull golden straw colour with a hazy body to it, though lacked the vibrancy I have come to expect with a fresh hazy IPA. Thin layer of bubbles that faded to a thin ring around the edge.
Udon Brewing Tsukimi Udon : Aroma
Muted aroma – again, lacking the vibrancy of hoppiness I’ve come to expect from hazy IPAs. Some light citrus notes with a touch of melon and pineapple but only when warm.
Udon Brewing Tsukimi Udon : Taste
Smooth, but light, bitterness with some hoppy notes, but again, all rather muted. Maybe some more hops would be needed in a future batch of this beer. Well-rounded citrus and tropical notes became present at the beer warmed up, but not enough to save it all.

There is a base of a good beer here, but ramp up the hoppiness – or have I been spoilt with hoppy beers?
