Euljiro Brewing : The Bottom Line
Euljiro Brewing is a cool little place that has some character and soul to it in a city that is racing ahead into the future and new designs. However, don’t go to Euljiro Brewing if you’re expecting a quiet beer or even a conversation as it’s so damned loud in here – turn the music down! Other than that, I did enjoy my short time here and the food – in spite of being enough to feed a few people – is all good.
Euljiro Brewing : Background
I randomly came across Euljiro Brewing as I was walking around the Euljiro area of Seoul. It’s hard not to miss it, what with its Cyberpunk exterior and neon lights in a small alleyway. It kind of felt like stepping into some illicit store in a video game – should I really be walking in here? What would I come across? Would I be sold some random magical potion that will change my outlook on life? If you count beer as that magical potion, then sure.
Euljiro Brewing is part of the Kiwa Taproom group, which operates three other bars at the time of writing though I couldn’t see any brewery equipment in this bar, so I am guessing they make their beers elsewhere in the city.
Euljiro Brewing : Beer & Food Information
On the day I went to Euljiro Brewing, there were about 10 taps of craft beer from across South Korea as well as some imports. The glasses were pretty interesting though. They had taken old Suntory beer glasses, and then emblazoned them with their own logo on the front of the glass. The beers though come in two sizes : glass (350 ml) from ₩7000 or pitchers (1800 ml) from ₩29,000. Again, craft beer bars in South Korea don’t seem to do many variations of sizes in bars – perhaps for space issues or cleaning but it was nice to get some smaller beers for a change that allowed me to have a couple of different beers.
Like most places in South Korea, the food at Euljiro Brewing is made to be shared – and yes I did try to finish off that whole plate of wings and chips by myself. I couldn’t, in spite of being super hungry, it was so much food! I ended up getting it to takeaway though as the staff were kind enough to put the leftovers in a box.
