Open Air Number Seven : Aroma & Taste
Open Air Number Seven poured out a hazy golden yellow colour with a thin amount of white head on top that didn’t last long – in fact it barely left any suds on the side of the glass. The aroma started off with a light pine and resinous note that moved into a fruity mango and guava aroma. This was followed up with some citrus of grapefruit and lemon and just a mild touch of pilsner sweetness.
The body began with a bitter touch – not bold but nor was it going to lay back and let the flavours of the hops push it into obscurity. Open Air Number Seven had more of the nose in the body, with a light pine and resinous flavour coming through with the fruitiness of mango and guava. In terms of body, Open Air Number Seven wasn’t bone dry, and did have a slight pilsner sweet stickiness to it, though it was quite low. The citrus notes were present though they did just lay in the background compared to the initial flavours.
Open Air Number Seven : The Bottom Line
For my first beer from Open Air Brewing, I was most impressed. Good stuff.
