Be Easy Mezame is a 7% lager from Be Easy Brewing, based in Hirosaki, in Aomori, Japan. It’s part of the draft lineup, though it found its way into bottles during 2020. Be Easy Mezame is brewed using imported coconut and contains honey malt.
Be Easy Mezame Aroma and Taste
Be Easy Mezame poured out a hazy dark golden orange colour with a plump white head on top with lots of fluffy bubbles on top that left a sticky residue down the side of the glass. The aroma was an initial roasted coconut one, with some notes of honey and pilsner breadiness coming though. There wasn’t any discernible hop aroma though – nothing that was worthy of note anyway.
The body continued with the coconut theme, but it was neither bold nor overpowering. I wouldn’t call Be Easy Mezame refreshing in a typical lager sense, but the coconut did make me feel nostalgia for a beach in Hawaii. The body had a slight bready flavour to it from the malts, with a toasted flavour to it with a similar aftertaste to the body.
Be Easy Mezame The Bottom Line
I didn’t think coconut and lager would go well, but it does.
