Teenage Space Echo

Teenage Space Echo : Background

Teenage Space Echo is a 10% triple IPA from Teenage Brewing, based in Saitama. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though like many other beers from them, it’s unknown whether Teenage Space Echo is part of their regular lineup or not. This beer is brewed with *deep breath time* Citra, Citra Cryo, Vic Secret, Centennial, Chinook, Simcoe, and Saaz hops. Like other beers from Teenage Brewing, this beer is supposed to be paired with some music and the albums of choice from Teenage Brewing are Andy Stott / Luxury Problems (Album) and King Tubby Meets The Scientist / In a Revival Dub (Album) – neither of which I have heard of.

Teenage Space Echo : Appearance

Hazy golden straw colour with a minimal amount of head on top. The picture doesn’t do the beer justice but it was much more vibrant in colour than appears.

Teenage Space Echo : Aroma

A little bit of everything going on – mango and pineapple, grapefruit and lemon, guava and papaya, lime and orange. It was rather overwhelming in terms of hop nose. The Saaz seems a bit wasted here really. Light to medium sweetness in the nose from the malts, with a touch of alcohol heat too.

Teenage Space Echo : Taste

Smooth bitterness with a big punch of alcohol in the back. Like in the nose, overwhelming hop flavours going on, with the a barage of citrus and tropical fruits all noted. Really was a lot going on in this beer that at times, it was hard to pick out just one flavour.

Teenage Space Echo : The Bottom Line

A barage for the olifactory senses – lots going on and very nice beer all round.
