Hojo Mosaic IPA is a 6% American IPA from Hojo Brewing & Stays, based in Matsuyama, in Ehime, Japan. It’s part of their bottled and draught lineup, though in terms of availability, it’s unknown though Hojo Brewing & Stays do intend to keep their single hop series going so we may see Hojo Mosaic IPA again in the future. Hojo Mosaic IPA is the first in their hop series and unsurprisingly, uses only Mosaic hops throughout brewing.

Hojo Mosaic IPA : Aroma & Taste
Hojo Mosaic IPA poured out a slightly hazy but vibrant golden yellow colour with a thin layer of white head on top, though it faded fast to leave just a few bubbles around the side. The aroma was what I expected from Mosaic hops – a distinct citrus and tropical aroma, with grapefruit and lemon, alongside some light pineapple notes appearing as Hojo Mosaic IPA warmed up. The aroma had a touch of sweetness to it – enough to be notice but not enough to be cloying or off putting.
The body to Hojo Mosaic IPA began with a smooth bitterness that moved onto a familiar citrus and tropical body – pretty much the same as in the nose. The flavours were well balanced in the beer, with a light sweetness just supporting the hoppy flavours, and the body was a touch on the dry side.
