Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA : Aroma & Taste
Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA poured out a dull hazy yellow colour with a thin amount of white head on top that faded to leave some lingering bubbles around the side of the glass. In all honesty, Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA did not look appealing, in fact, it looked rather oxidised and in need of some rejigging. The aroma though was slightly better, with Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA having notes of passionfruit and pineapple in the nose; though there was some chloride notes to the nose which only got stronger as the beer warmed up.
The body was a bit better than the nose as it first started off with a low level of bitterness, which then moved towards a tropical flavour of passionfruit and pineapple, similar to the nose. The body also had some notes of citrus with lemon being the strongest of note. However, as in the nose, Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA also had some chloride astringency that grew stronger as it warmed up. The body was rather light though, with just a smidgen of sweetness bringing the beer to a close.
Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA : The Bottom Line
Mizonokuchi Hazy IPA needs some rejigging for it be a solid hazy IPA. Let’s come back in a year and see how it has changed.
