Minoh Weizen by Minoh Beer

Mionh Weizen is another award-winning beer from Minoh Beer, having won first place in 2003 and in 2004 in the best weizen category at the Japan Beer Festival in Osaka. Along with the rest of Minoh’s range, the Minoh Weizen is slowly making inroads into the Kanto area.

Minoh Weizen

Minoh Weizen pours out very well, like a good weizen should do.

Minoh Weizen Aroma and Taste

Minoh Weizen pours our extremely well, with some good carbonation and a nice thin, white head that lasts for a while before dissipating away. The beer has a solid aroma of bananas infused with some spices and there were definite notes of cloves in there as well. Perhaps a little overpowering but pleasant and long-lasting.

The taste of Minoh Weizen is fairly similar to the aroma, with the banana and cloves aromatics following through; however, there is also a strong wheaty taste as well. Fairly refreshing and easy drinking too, with the aforementioned carbonating not being too over the top. In spite of this, the body is a little thin and the aftertaste is slightly more acidic than I would expect from a weizen.

Minoh Weizen One-line Review

Minoh Weizen is a nice beer that would go down well at most summer events, but the acidity is a touch too strong for an everyday beer.

I have had quite a few bottles, which are now widely available. It is easy to drink, I agree, but a bit too sweet. Some banana taste is there, but not so much else. Not bad for a weizen, but there are better ones around.
