Bay Brewing White Cat IPA is a 7.5% American IPA from Yokohama Bay Brewing, based in Yokohama, in Kanagawa, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in both bottles and on draught. The only two things we know about Bay Brewing White Cat IPA is that it uses imported American hops and the malt bill consists of 30% of wheat malt.

Bay Brewing White Cat IPA Aroma and Taste

Bay Brewing White Cat IPA poured out a slightly hazy golden orange colour with a plump fluffy white head on top that clung to the side of the glass throughout drinking. Bay Brewing White Cat IPA had your typical, old-school aroma of lemon and grapefruit, and just an ever so slight dankness to it once it had warmed up. That period of warming up allowed some of the wheatiness to come through, bringing a slightly creamy nose to the aroma, but it was still the hops that reigned throughout.

The wheat also meant that the body tasted a bit fully that your usual American IPA. The mouthfeel was slightly sticky, with the bitterness from the hops cutting through with a tart citrus profile of lemon and grapefruit. It took some time for the pine notes to come through, but they did faintly. The flavour profile didn’t stray much further than that in the end. The bitterness was long-lasting and smooth into the aftertaste, with the hops being the prevalent flavour with the lemon and grapefruit keeping hold of the flavour until their fade.
