DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA is an 8.2% Double IPA from DD4D Brewing based in Ehime, in Shikoku, Japan. It’s part of their bottled and draft lineup, with the former being far more easily found than the latter. At the time of writing, it’s unknown what hops went into dry hopping the beer as nothing has been announced – not even on their own shop. The only thing that DD4D have said about the hopping process is that DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA is hopped once during fermentation and then twice post fermentation.

DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA Aroma and Taste

DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA poured out a light golden honey colour with a large fluffy white head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the side of the glass. The first thing that came off the beer was a huge juicy nose from it – even when chilled, DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA exuded a large tropical nose to it. Pineapple, mango, guava, and peach were all coming off the beer, but there was a big lack of any noticeable sweetness or booziness coming off, either when chilled or warmed up.

There was a subtle smooth bitterness to DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA, along with the tropical fruits that were similar to the nose. The tropical fruits from the nose – pineapple, mango, guava, and peach – segued into a dankness that had some hints of pine to it as well. At 8%, I was expecting some alcohol heat to DD4D Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA but it didn’t have anything. If anything, it was dangerously easy to drink and rather thirst quenching.
