Osaka Craft Brewery The Bottom Line

Osaka Craft Brewery is a beautiful venue with a decent view of the city and plenty of space for large parties. They have a nice food and wine menu, although their craft beer selection is pretty basic. Itā€™s definitely more of an upscale place than most craft beer bars, and as such you can expect to pay higher prices.

Osaka Craft Brewery The Full Review

First of all, it should be noted that despite the name of the place, Osaka Craft Brewery is not a brewery of any kind. They do not make or distribute their own beer. This venue is a restaurant that serves craft beer, but their focus is definitely more on food and atmosphere than beer. Itā€™s a very classy looking space on the ninth floor, with a decent view of the city if you get a window or balcony seat. Itā€™s also very spacious, with seating for over 100 people including private rooms for groups of all sizes. This combined with their availability of all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink courses leads me to believe that their primary function is as an upscale restaurant for parties and events, and not the walk-in bar I treated it as.

Their beer menu is limited to four from Spring Valley Brewery, Yona Yona Ale, Brooklyn Lager, Heineken, and Kirin. Prices for a single glass are reasonable at Ā„580 for the Kirin and Ā„680 for everything else. The menu also includes pairing suggestions for foods they think go well with each beer. I didnā€™t order any food when I visited since I stopped in right after they opened just looking for a beer before heading home, but the food menu looks to be largely Itallian inspired and includes a pretty nice selection of dishes. Likewise, Iā€™m not a wine-drinker, but their wine list is quite extensive and presumably includes some good stuff if youā€™re into that kind of thing.

When I visited for a quick afternoon beer, I had a hard time reconciling the elegant atmosphere and location with the seemingly low menu prices, at least until I received the check. I visited with my girlfriend on our way home after a day of hard shopping. She ordered a soft drink and I had a single SVB beer. Shortly after ordering they brought us a wine glass of mixed nuts, which I presumed to be the table charge dish. When we paid the bill, the total was just over Ā„3000. It turns out that thereā€™s a Ā„500 table charge per person, and each person is also billed for a compulsory appetizer, which in this case was close to an additional Ā„500. Learn from my terrible experience and do not stop by this venue for just a drink or 2, the additional charges only even out if you order a lot of food or drinks or if you plan on doing a course menu event for multiple people.

Sorry, there were some coding issues going on that stopped the map from appearing. Should be working now.
