Ebina Hefeweizen is a 5% hefeweizen from Ebina Beer, based in Ebina, in Kanagawa, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup, and can be found in both bottles and on tap. No fancy names with this beer – what you see on the label is what you get in the bottle.

Ebina Hefeweizen Aroma and Taste

Ebina Hefeweizen poured out a dark yellow-orange colour with a fluffy and plump white head on top. Ebina Hefeweizen had the aroma of your prototypical hefeweizen – a large banana and wheaty nose to it, with some peppery cloves coming through. Simple and straightforward with no fancy bells on top – sometimes that’s all your want from a beer. The sweetness did come through a bit more once it had warmed up somewhat, but by that time, there wasn’t much left in the glass.

The body was perhaps the disappointing thing to Ebina Hefeweizen – the flavours were spot on for a hefeweizen, but the body was thinner than expected. I expected something with a bit more chew to it, but that is the only negative thing I have to say about this beer. The lingering clove and banana flavours were nice and fresh, with the bottled version less than two weeks old.

Ebina Hefeweizen The Bottom Line

It isn’t a game changing beer, but Ebina Hefeweizen is a good beer to sit and drink.
