Marché Dix Jour in Kannai, Kanagawa

Kannai is well known for its plethora of craft beer bars, though it doesn’t have too many places to actual buy any beers to be drunk out and about in Yokohama or to be taken home. It’s a shame, as there are lots of lovely areas in the vicinity of Kannai to relax and drink in. Moreover, you can also take beers into Yokohama Stadium to watch our beloved Yokohama Baystars capitulate a winning game to pull off a stunning loss from the jaws of victory.

Marché Dix Jour is located just across from Yokohama Stadium, and if you don’t speak / read French, then it might not seem familiar to you. However, it’s name translates into English as “Ten Day Market” – which abbreviates to TDM, which is also the same as TDM 1874 Brewery – coincidence?! I think not! It’s actually the wine shop arm of the same company; however, Marché Dix Jour also stocks some craft beers alongside the wine. Moreover, you can also get some of the TDM 1874 beers on tap, or in a plastic cup to takeaway. With a nice seating area immediately outside the front of the shop, or across in the park.

The drinking part of the shop is not open all the time though, so be careful. While the shop hours are pretty standard, the drinking area is a bit shorter.  On weekdays, it’s open from 16:00 to 22:00, while the weekend hours remain the same as the shop hours.

There is also a small selection of cider and imported beers too, though the latest we’ve heard is that the store is moving towards only stocking cans rather than bottles. Makes sense as cans last longer than bottles.
