Fujiyama Hunter’s Room is a 7% milk stout from Fujiyama Hunter’s Beer, based in Fujinomiya, in Shizuoka, Japan. It’s part of their all-year round range, and can be found in both bottles and on tap. Fujiyama Hunter’s Room is brewed using lactose and also fresh roasted coffee beans during the secondary fermentation stage.

Fujiyama Hunter’s Room Aroma and Taste

Fujiyama Hunter’s Room poured out a pitch black colour with a large amount of frothy tan head, which collapsed into a thin brown oily layer on top. There was a distinct creamy nose to it, along with a deep roasted coffee and malt nose to it. Once Fujiyama Hunter’s Room had warmed up, there was some caramel and black malt nose to it as well, though in the end, all the aromas were well balanced.

Fujiyama Hunter’s Room started off with a roasted coffee taste which segued into a creamy chocolate body. The flavours were quite simple – creamy chocolate with some roasted black malt going on too – but were well balanced. At 7%, I expected some alcohol heat off of Fujiyama Hunter’s Room but there was nothing to it. The lingering roasted black malt and coffee were a nice pairing and worked well against each other, with just a hint of creaminess in the aftertaste.

Fujiyama Hunter’s Room The Bottom Line

Fujiyama Hunter’s Room has a weird name, but is a really nice milk stout. Pick some up.
