Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale is a 5% amber ale from Tsukiyono Craft Beer, based in Tone, in Gunma, Japan. It’s part of their all-year round up and can be found in bottles, but we’re yet to see it on tap in any of the bars we’ve been to. The only information we’ve been able to find out is that Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale is brewed towards Japanese tastes – so I guess Johnny Foreigner will not be able to taste the subtleties of it.

Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale ・月夜野水と緑のエールTsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale Aroma and Taste

Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale poured out a hazy orange amber colour with a small fluffy white head on top that faded fast. Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale had a fruity cherry aroma with some hints of butteriness going on. It wasn’t pleasant to be honest and the bottle was well in date. Perhaps my taste buds were more used to caramel or dank aromas – thanks Modern Times Blazing World for screwing up my taste buds there.

The initial taste to Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale was weird. I like ambers, be it English or American style, but Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale didn’t fit in either of those camps to be honest. The flavours were not delicate nor pleasurable, with some weird oxidised butteriness going on. The fruitiness was a welcome distraction to the flavours but only briefly. It didn’t last long before joining the drain club…

Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale The Bottom Line

If Tsukiyono Mizu to Midori no Ale is for Japanese tastes, then I’m glad I don’t like it. Something was seriously wrong this beer.
