Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA is a 6% American IPA from Ise Kadoya, based in Mie, Japan. It’s part of their hanakin, yeast harvested from local flowers (got to be a catchier name than that in English!), series with this one using yeast harvested from tanpopo, or dandelions. While it is an American IPA, Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA has an IBU of 40, making it one of the “weaker” IPAs we’ve had on BeerTengoku.

Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA Aroma and Taste

Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA poured out a hazy golden straw colour with a large frothy head on top that collapsed pretty quickly. There was a distinct estery flowery with some grapefruit notes to it, as well as slight lemony nose to as well. Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA didn’t have any malts coming through but there was a subtle underlying sweetness to it.

At only 40 IBU, Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA unsurprisingly, wasn’t overtly bitter. There was a slight twang to it but nothing that would get your face screwed up like the Ise Kadoya Lush Hop IPA Revolution. If you’re coming from a sweet beer, then you’ll notice it initially but the bitterness faded fast. The grassy body had some fruitiness to it along with an estery edge to it as well. If anything, Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA was kind of like a saison / Belgian IPA cross more than an American IPA. It finished off with some lingering floral hop flavour but overall was quite tame.

Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA The Bottom Line

Ise Kadoya Tanpopo Gold IPA was an interesting IPA and would be a welcome introductory IPA for those looking to get into that style.
