Donryu Dream Weizen is a 5% German Hefeweizen from Donryu Dream Beer, based in Gunma, Japan. It’s part of their all-year round lineup of craft beer and can be found in both bottles, 330ml and 500ml sizes, and also on tap. Donryu Dream Weizen is the most popular beer from the Donryu Dream Beer but unfortunately also features the generic “recommended beer for ladies”.
Donryu Dream Weizen poured out a light golden colour that didn’t appear too cloudy and was topped off with a large fluffy white head on top. It had a faint aroma of bananas but the traditional clove-like aroma was missing and as such, felt like a light-hefeweizen. It needed much more as the aroma simply limped along during drinking and felt bland after a while.
Donryu Dream Weizen’s body was more of the same after the aroma – it felt watery and lacked the hefeweizen punch I’ve been enjoying recently. It had some wheat flavour to it but really was just too watery for my preference and failed to develop a long-lasting or distinct flavour of a weizen. It ended up being quite bland in the end and was pretty forgettable as soon as I had finished a sip. Oh wait, there was more.
Donryu Dream Weizen The Bottom Line
Donryu Dream Weizen is either 330ml or 500ml of meh-ness – it’s instantly forgettable after drinking.
