Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer by Ginga Kogen Brewery

Ginga Kogen started out back in the early 90s and was almost the first microbrewery to make it big. Unfortunately, due to licensing laws, the likes of Asahi, Kirin et al, were able to push them back. However, it is still possible to find their beers in convenience stores and shops across the country.

Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer is a wheat beer that uses all German malt to make a beer that is sweet and light. Considered to be their flagship beer, Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer is sold in cans and bottles.

This is the canned version. The bottled version is much classier.

Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer  Aroma and Taste

Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer pours well, with a hazy body and a nice light, frothy head that gives off a citrus aroma and grassy tones. The cloudy body is an opaque yellow colour akin to wheat. Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer tastes stronger than expected, with the citrus flavours coming to the forefront. Grapefruit was one of the most overriding flavours to note. It also left a bitter aftertaste as well that quickly dissipated away.

Ginga Kogen Komugi no beer One Line Review

An impressive wheat beer that is full of flavour and bitterness. Not one for the faint hearted.
