Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale : Aroma & Taste

Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale poured out a hazy golden amberish colour with a thin amount of white head on top that didn’t linger for long. It left a few bubbles around the side of the glass before I had even taken a sip. The aroma was pretty basic – some citrus notes of lemon along with an earthiness to it though neither aroma was potent or punchy. Once Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale had warmed up, there was a touch of diacetyl – expected for an English pale ale really – with some caramel notes coming from the beer too.

With Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale being an English pale ale, I wasn’t expecting a punchy bitter taste and that’s exactly what happened – a muted level of bitterness that didn’t stay long either. The body had a lemon and earthy taste to it – similar to the nose – and the flavours didn’t really develop past that from the hops. There was a touch of diacetyl once it had warmed up somewhat, but the overriding flavour was a lingering caramel sweetness in the body.

Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale : The Bottom

Oiwake Otobbean Pale Ale is a basic English pale ale – it won’t excite in the times of the hazy IPA but it is a solid drinking beer.
