Matsumoto Meditation : Aroma & Taste

Matsumoto Meditation poured out a hazy light golden orange colour with a thin amount of white head on top that didn’t stay very long – in fact, it lasted less than 30 seconds, before fading into a thin ring of bubbles around the outside of the glass. The aroma was mixture of citrus and tropical notes, with a peachy orange aroma being the most prominent throughout drinking, that was followed up with some citrus lemon aroma. Once Matsumoto Meditation had warmed up some more, the creaminess from the oats was more pronounced and brought a slight malt sweetness.

At 8%, the alcohol wasn’t immediately noticeable, though as Matsumoto Meditation warmed up more and more, the alcohol flavour also became more and more prominent. The hops managed to reign it in somewhat, with a fruity body of peach and pineapple, alongside the more familiar citrus notes of lemon and orange. The body was sweeter than in the nose, and managed to take out some of the booziness but there was a weird soapy aftertaste on the palate from the beer. Not a good way to end it all really.

Matsumoto Meditation : The Bottom Line

Matsumoto Meditation is a drinkable beer but that alcohol and soapiness needs to reigned in.
