Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale : Aroma & Taste
Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale poured out a light golden yellow colour, though there was some chill haze in the beer, with it being rather cloudier than your usual golden ale. Rather than your usual floral aroma, Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale was more American-like, with a stronger than expected citrus aroma – more lemon than anything else – with just a touch of malt sweetness, in the form of a light pilsner dusting, coming though. The sweetness was rather restrained, with Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale veering towards the fruitier side of a golden ale.
While Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale does use two hops that are more associated with American pale ales and IPAs, the hops were more restrained than expected. While there was a touch of tartness to the beer, it wouldn’t be fair to call it bitter in a pale ale sense. The hops though did bring some more of the citrus flavour to the beer, again with lemon being the stronger of the flavours, but the body overall was light and dry. When Yonezawa Jacks Golden Ale had warmed up, there was a meagre amount of pilsner sweetness though it faded fast from the palate.
