DHC Session IPA is a 4.5% session IPA from DHC Beer Company, based in Gotemba, in Shizuoka, Japan. Itā€™s part of their main lineup and can be found in both cans on tap. DHC Session IPA is brewed using Citra, Mosaic, and HBC431 to give it an IBU of 25. A bit low there to be honest to be an IPA.

DHC Session IPA Aroma and Taste

DHC Session IPA poured out a dark orange brown colour with no head on it at all. The aroma was bad ā€“ there was nothing American about this beer with a big buttery nose and strong cardboard-like aroma to the beer. It had been stored properly ā€“ in a chilled atmosphere with no light but it smelt old and oxidised. Nothing appealing about DHC Session IPA from either the looks or the nose.

I wish I hadnā€™t bothered drinking this. If the nose hadnā€™t been enough of a giveaway, the first sip made it clear that DHC Session IPA is good for cleaning drains. The horrendous butter bomb of a beer, mixed with an oxidised cardboard flavour was just disgusting. I double checked but this beer was in date. It lacked any sense of bitterness, and thatā€™s not a surprise at an IBU of 25, and it was neither crisp nor clear.

DHC Session IPA The Bottom Line

DHC Session IPA is horrendous and should be avoided.
