Sakamichi Brewing The Bottom Line

It’s a bit early to comment on the beers from Sakamichi Brewing – at the time of writing they aren’t brewing on their own systems – however the bar itself is worthy of a visit when you’re in the area due to the variety and number of beers on tap for the price. The whole place is non-smoking, has places both inside and outside for drinking, and is a very nice place to relax with a couple of cold beers while you watch people go past. The major downside is that there is no food served at Sakamichi Brewing; however, you can bring in your own food to eat – a nice little bonus there, and helps to support local businesses.

Sakamichi Brewing Inside

Sakamichi Brewing The Full Review

After a long ride in the saddle from my house to Tachikawa, I knew what I wanted was some cold beer – the temperature on the day had just touched into the low 20s and I could feel my arms starting to tan. The River Tama is a good, easy cycle and along the way is Sakamichi Brewing.

The nearest station to Sakamichi Brewing is Tachikawa Station, though you could also walk there from Tachikawa-Minami, with the former being less than a 10 minute walk away. Sakamichi Brewing opened in March 2020. At the time of writing though, Sakamichi Brewing were not brewing the beers onsite, instead they were doing contract brewing at various breweries across Kanto.

Sakamichi Brewing Atmosphere & Interior

The inside of Sakamichi Brewing is nice and spacious, with lots of room between tables, and plenty of places to stand around. The light and airy nature of the bar, combined with the relaxed atmosphere lends itself nicely to talking very easily to those around you. There was some music playing; loud enough to be heard, but not loud enough to be distraction to those around.

In terms of seating, there are about 12 seats inside the bar, at high tables, with also a big bench outside the bar. Moreover, there is LOTS of standing room too, though not at the bar as you would get in the way of the other customers. The whole place is non-smoking, has no table charge, and also offers up some free WiFi, with the details behind the bar.

Sakamichi Brewing Approach to Covid-19

Like other bars in the Tokyo area, Sakamichi Brewing is operating following the instructions of the Tokyo government’s suggestion of emergency – so expect some shortened hours when necessary. Moreover, all of the staff are wearing masks, and encourage social distancing where appropriate. There is also alcohol spray available for people’s use and the doors and windows are kept open when possible.

Sakamichi Brewing Beer & Tap Information

In spite of Sakamichi Brewing having “brewing” in their name, at the time of our visit, they weren’t brewing any beers on site, instead they were contract brewing at other breweries in Kanto, and then selling their beers on tap. There are 8 taps of craft beer on, though the list is split between their own makings, as well as some guest domestic and import beers on sale. The beers come in one size, and one size only: 400ml for ¥880 with prices inclusive of tax. There is no happy hour nor any beer flights. There is also the option of takeaway beer as Sakamichi Brewing has some bottles and cans on sale, with the lineup consisting of both domestic and imports.

Sakamichi Brewing Food Information

Unfortunately, Sakamichi Brewing doesn’t offer up any food, though they do allow customers to purchase food from local shops and eat indoors. The only requisite is that customers take their rubbish home with them.
